SPOKES is School on Wheels’ new community outreach group.

What is SPOKES?  SPOKES is a group of people who care about education in Indianapolis, want to learn more and become involved in making a difference the community.

What do SPOKES members do?  SPOKES members raise awareness and funding for School on Wheels. This young professionals group is actively engaged in raising awareness regarding education and underserved youth.  Additionally, SPOKES helps meet some of School on Wheels’ unmet needs—helping to recruit volunteers, serving as members of a speakers bureau to educate the community on the challenges homeless youth as they strive for educational success, and creating opportunities for the community to provide specific school supplies/uniform sizes that are not often donated.

Education Conversation  SPOKES hosts an annual Education Conversation, inviting educational leaders to present on the state of education.  Presenters cover a range of topics, with a general focus on underserved youth and educational policies or programs.  Education Conversations are open to the community and provide the opportunity for discussion and networking.

What are the benefits of being in SPOKES?  SPOKES members receive free and discounted entry to SPOKES and School on Wheels events. Members also benefit from connecting to other civic-minded professionals in the Indianapolis community.
