Volunteering as a tutor for a homeless child is a meaningful way to impact your community.  School on Wheels is the only agency in Indianapolis to provide tutoring and educational mentoring to homeless youth.  Since 2001, School on Wheels has mobilized over 3,500 volunteers to tutor over 4,200 school-aged homeless children.

Tutoring with School on Wheels is a semester long commitment that takes only an hour a week.  Anybody age 14 & up can tutor on their own and children ages 11-13 can tutor with a parent.

As a tutor, you will:

- Enhance the educational opportunities of homeless children.

- Demonstrate consistency and encouragement by helping a child to understand why their education is not only important, but possible.

- Receive a free tutor-training as well as guidance from an on-site School on Wheels staff member during every tutoring session.

- Become the heart and soul of School on Wheels!
