OUR WISHLIST
It takes a lot of ‘stuff’ and ‘skills’ to meet the needs of our kids! Here’s the latest – but come back often as it changes regularly!
Please note: We are not currently accepting books (besides those listed below) as our library is fully stocked! Here’s what we DO need…
Twitter users: Follow #WWSOW every Wednesday for updates on our most urgent needs.
SCHOOL UNIFORMS: Uniforms are required at Indianapolis Public Schools. We supply each child we tutor with 2 NEW school uniforms, free of charge. We need the following sizes of clothing (acceptable shirt colors include white, black, blue and red; pant colors include khaki, black and blue.):
Girls’ Polos: Small & Medium (Red, white, blue, black)
Boys’ Polos: Extra-small & Small (Red, white, blue, black)
Ladies’ Polos: Medium & Large (Red, white, blue, black)
Girls Pants: Sizes 6 & 20
Boys’ Pants: Sizes 7, 8 & 14
CLEANING WIPES: Help us fight the flu with antibacterial/disinfectant wipes like these Clorox Wipes.
LIBRARY NEEDS: As School on Wheels serves school-aged children kindergarten through 12th grade, we are unable to utilize board books (intended for younger children) in our program. Please consider donating new and gently used board books to our partner in literacy, Indy Reads. Additionally, many shelter partners are in need of books for younger children and accept donations directly. We gladly accept and appreciate books geared towards school-aged children. Key books of interest for School on Wheels students include:
Books by Margaret Peterson Haddix, books by Erin Hunter (Warrior series), Drama High series, Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul, Diary of a Wimpy Kid series.
YARDSTICKS
AFTER-SCHOOL SNACKS: Healthy, individually packaged snacks including cereal bars, fruit snacks, cheese and peanut butter/jelly cracker packs, goldfish, teddy grahams, yogurt bars.
